What should I wear?
Please wear form fitting, athletic clothes that you can move in. Tights, leggings, short, and capris are acceptable - no ankle length pants. Hair and make-up should be performance quality. No jewelry besides stud earrings please. Formal auditions will be during the last part of the day and all those auditioning must be wearing black, form fitting clothes.

Do current members have to re-audition?

Yes, all returning members must go through the audition process each season.

What type of things will I have to do for the audition?

The audition will include a dance routine, flag basics (drop spins, peggy spins, basic tosses, etc.), and a flag routine choreographed by the instructors. All skill levels are encouraged to audition!

Does the colorguard spin weapons?
Yes, the colorguard holds an optional audition for the rifle line later in the season. Your ability or interest in the rifle line will in no way affect your audition. The audition process is based solely on dance and flag.

Thank you for your interest in the UCF Colorguard!

Video Auditions for out of town students

If you are an incoming UCF freshman from out of state and cannot make the audition date, you will be allowed to submit a videotape of yourself performing on flag. We'll hold weapon auditions at Band Camp.

You'll need to demonstrate drop spins, peggy spins (aka overhand spins), cones, pull hits, thumb flips, and any other basic flag skills you may do at your school that would demonstrate your control/skill with the equipment.

You'll need to demonstrate that you're able to execute multiple tosses, including a basic pop toss, a standard double, a parallel toss, and a basic 45 toss.

You'll also need to perform a short piece of choreography to music. You can use whatever music you like. We're mainly looking to see that you can incorporate your body and your flag into the musical phrase. It doesn't need to be the craziest, trickiest thing you've ever done. You need to look in control of your body, your equipment and your performance quality at all times.

In the video, we'd prefer if you wear an all black, form fitting ensemble, preferably capris or shorts with tights so that we can see your feet and ankles.
